On a recent trip to California, we experienced some great weather during the Autumn months. From San Diego to LA, we experienced temperatures in the low to high 20’s which were comfortable on the cooler days and warm and dry on the hotter days. Upon return, we were regularly asked about the climate this time of year and how one should dress, so we decided to publish this post: What To Wear In California In The Fall? During the day, a pair of chino shorts are suitable, with a relaxed

Oaks Day 2015 (Ladies Day) presented us with the opportunity to enter the James Boag Marquee in the Flemington Birdcage. One of the larger VIP marquees, it consisted of a huge undercover outdoor balcony overlooking the final straight of the track where guests could sip on champagne, or a Boags Draught and snack on some of the delicious canapes put together by celebrity chef Matt Moran. Inside was an indoor-garden inspired complex with a red carpet staircase leading into a large open area where a live band played some of

Melbourne Cup Day is a day for fun and colour. What better then to spend the day with a young, hip VIP crowd in the Lavazza Marquee?! With Adam D’Sylva as the head chef for the guests, the focus was on quality canapes, tasty Italian style pizza and delicious dessert treats to keep the guests full. Delectable Prosecco bubbles were flowing freely all day as was the beer Moretti, but all the anticipation was on the next round of Lavazza Espresso Martini’s! The stylish boys behind the bar were shaking

Melbourne Cup Day men’s fashions stepped up a level this year, moving onto bright colours and fun after the traditional monochrome tones of Derby Day. Gents matched blazers with alternate coloured trousers and double breasted blazers were back in force. Grey and blue suits were the most common matched with bright accessories such as ties, pocket squares and lapel flowers, including the traditional yellow rose. The mood was dapper and fun, with racegoers letting their hair down, sipping champagne and dancing to house and R&B music in the various Birdcage

Gents, not only should you look your best for the Melbourne Cup Carnival, but you should also feel your best. Enter Enter Mankind in Toorak Road, South Yarra – a spa and salon dedicated to all things Mankind in health, grooming and wellness. Upon entering the salon, we were greeted by friendly and knowledgable staff and led into a quiet treatment room where we undertook a number of relaxing treatments, including a 45 minute facial and a men’s waxing. The facial treatment was extremely rejuvenating, lifting the tension and revitalising

Derby Day men’s fashions saw the traditional black & white still take centre stage, but with a big push into tones of grey and even blue, which some gents claimed reflected the corn flower palette. Pocket squares were out in force, as were additional accessories such a lapel flowers, Starlight Foundation cups and horsehoe pins, coloured socks, wrist wear and hats. We’ve taken a selection of photos below covering some gents fashions of the day. All images were taken by Paul Juchima of No.Paparazzi Man and are subject to copyright

Upon entering the Birdcage this Derby Day, there’s a flurry of marquees each with their own identity. None more from the outside then The Nest at the Lexus Design Pavilion. Designed by the talented Melbourne artist Joost Bakker, the bird nest like exterior was created with over 100km of recycled wire which took over 4,000 hours to assemble. Looking outside from within the Pavilion really gave you the sense of being wrapped up in a nest, peeking out through the wire to see what the revellers outside were up to.
